Studio DJL has obtained listed building consent for a programme of technical upgrades at the Regent Theatre, supporting the ongoing use of the venue as a major regional performance space. The proposals were shaped to respond to the building’s historic fabric while addressing the practical requirements of contemporary theatre production. Working within the constraints of the listed structure, Studio DJL developed a sensitive strategy to renew and enhance lighting, sound, and stage infrastructure, with all interventions designed to be minimal and reversible. The approved works will improve technical capability, increase operational resilience, and provide greater flexibility for a diverse programme of performances, ensuring the theatre remains fit for purpose well into the future.
