This project explored the concept of reimagining a historic theatre in Helsinki as a contemporary live music venue positioned at the cultural heart of the city. The proposal sought to balance preservation and transformation, respecting the architectural and cultural significance of the existing building while adapting it to meet the demands of a modern performance space.

The design maximized the potential of the original structure by identifying and repurposing redundant and underutilized areas, allowing the insertion of new functions without compromising the integrity of the historic fabric. These interventions enabled the introduction of modern technical infrastructure, improved acoustics, and enhanced accessibility.

In doing so, the project created high-quality facilities for both audiences and performers, including upgraded public circulation spaces, backstage areas, and artist support amenities. The outcome demonstrates how adaptive reuse can extend the life of a historic building, ensuring its continued relevance while contributing to Helsinki’s evolving live music and cultural scene.
