New Wimbledon Theatre

New Wimbledon Theatre is a Grade II listed Edwardian theatre that has been a cultural landmark in Wimbledon Town Centre since opening in 1910. Located on the Broadway in the London Borough of Merton, it offers a year-round programme of musicals, comedy, drama, dance, family entertainment and its renowned annual pantomime, alongside developmental work in its Studio space. Designed by Cecil Aubrey Massey and Roy Young, the theatre has hosted major performers and world premieres including Oliver! and Half a Sixpence, and retains much of its historic baroque interior following several refurbishments. Actively engaged with the local community, the theatre is also well connected, situated close to Wimbledon’s main rail, tube and tram links.

By working with major stakeholders, Studio DJL gained listed building consent to carry out a series of crucial upgrades to the historic theatre. Although mostly technical, all upgrades were carried out with a sensitivity to the historic architecture.
